Every year “St. Kliment Ohridski” school selects talented students who have shown their abilities during the school year and who deserve to get a “Brisby” award.
Student award “Brisby” was established in 1992 by the Brisby family – John Brisby – a famaous lawyer in London with Bulgarian roots and his wife Clare Brisby. The award continues a charity tradition started by John’s ancestors – the trader Hadji Kalcho Drenski (who was born in a neighborhood near the village of Oreshak) and his son – diplomat Constantine (Kocho) Hadjikalchev. It is given annually on the 24th of May to prominent students that are selected and offered by their schools according certain criteria – “talented and original thinking”. Every student gets a diploma and 30 GBP.
